Who is Rai Capel?

Hello! My name is Raimond Capel...

... and i'm very pleased to have you here.

I'm originally from Germany. In the early 80s, a job took me to South Africa.

In 1982, I joined friends on an overland trip from South Africa all the way up to Kenya - through Namibia, Botswana, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. We camped in the bush, and while it felt overwhelming at first, it went deep into my soul. This is what Africa does to you. I bought my own Land Cruiser and kept going - again and again.

Today, I live in Texas, where life brought me through love.

Scroll down to see how my journey into hosting safaris began.

I never planned to become a safari Host. But life had other plans.

Okay, so love took me to Texas. But how did that lead to me hosting safaris in Africa?

At some point, friends from the US started asking if I could take them along. I simply showed them the places I loved - nothing more. But word spread.

Trip by trip, people kept reaching out - not because of good marketing, but because someone they trusted had been out there with me.

That's when I realized: Maybe this isn't just something I love. Maybe it's something I'm meant to share.

So even though I never planned to become a safari host, life had other plans.

We explore Africa differently

How it works & what to expect

Every fire, every moment, every detail matters.

Private Charter Flights

We fly from Cape Town with our exclusive Beechcraft King Air private charter from one lodge in the Okavango Delta, to the next 3 lodges in one of the remotest parts of Botswana, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. No waiting in airports, and the customs are quick, easy, and in total comfort.

Mobile Camps

Our mobile camps are built for the bush and take you deep into untouched nature. They're set up with a professional team, offering full comfort in total remoteness. It's placed with care and leaves no trace - preserving the wild as it is.

Absolute Privacy

We'll be deep in the wild. Each guest gets their own private tent - with ensuite bathroom. Only 8 - 12 guests per camp. Fully set up in the wild, far from the crowds. So remote, you can only get there by plane. Wake up to nature and breakfast with a view.

What you'll see & feel

From lions roaring at night to elephants drinking just steps away - every day in the bush brings something new. Zebras calling, hyenas laughing, birds echoing across the plains. It's not just what you see. It's what you feel. The rawness, the beauty, the deep connection. Welcome to real Africa.

Iconic Stops

It's not just one camp. We move from one highlight to the next: the vast Okavango Delta, remote wildlife areas, and iconic sights like the Victoria Falls. Every place has its magic. And you'll see more than most do in a lifetime.

One Price. No Surprise.

This trip of a lifetime is very unique. The combination of a private charter to all destinations and exclusivity in the lodges was created by a South African friend and yours truly. We are offering a new affordable African Safari. The minute you arrived in Cape Town it's all inclusive wherever we go.

Ready to Go?

You can join solo or with friends. I'll match the right group. Then I'll send you a tailored proposal with everything included. Once you're happy, we lock in your dates with a desposit and you can start counting down the days.

Frequently Asked Questions

Planning a safari is exciting, but it can also raise a few questions.

Here are answers to the most common things our guests ask.

There are no packages to click an buy. Every safari is bespoke. The journey begins with a simple request: just click the Request Your Safari button and fill in a short form with your details and travel wishes.

Once submitted, the request goes directly to Rai. He will personally reach out to you - usually within 24 hours - to start a converstaion. This is a chance to get to know what you are dreaming of: when you’d like to travel, who you are coming with, and the kind of experience you want to have in Botswana.

From there, Rai begins shaping a journey tailored just for you. He discusses options, shares what’s possible based on your dates, and ensures that every detail - from lodges and private charters to dietary needs - is arranged with care. The process is personal, relaxed, and transparent. Your role is simply to share your vision. Rai’s role is to make it real.

Almost everything. Your journey with Rai covers luxury mobile camps and lodges, all meals and drinks, seamless transfers by private vehicles or charter flights, game drives, park and reserve fees. Rai personally hosts the entire journey, making sure every detail runs smoothly. From luggage handling to 24/7 concierge support, every detail is arranged so you can simply enjoy the experience.

What’s not included are international flights to Africa, personal insurance, tips for camp statt and guides, and optional extras such as scenic helicopter flights or add-on destinations.

The safari is designed to feel intimate, with small groups of usually 6 to 10 guests, and never more than 12. If you are a family or a group of friends booking together, the journey will be private - no additional travelers will be added.

For solo travelers or couples, Rai carefully matches guests so the group feels natural and harmonious. The atmosphere remains personal and relaxed, with plenty of space and attention for everyone.

Most safari companies sell pre-packaged tours that need to be booked one or even two years in advance. Rai works differently. His deep local connections often allow him to secure last-minute access to parks and camps that others cannot.

The routs may include Botswana’s classic highlights - the Okavango Delta, Khwai, Savuti, Chobe, and Victoria Falls - but the way you experience them is unique. Rai personally hosts the journey, ensuring every detail flows seamlessly, from private transfers and licensed night drives to champagne welcomes and special care for your needs.

With Rai, it isn’t just about seeing Botswana. It’s about being invited into a world that feels rare, personal, and impossible to find on your own.

We recommend planning a safari during the dry season, from May through October. At this time, the bush is thinner, wildlife gathers around water sources, and game viewing is at its best. Days are warm, nights are cooler, and skies are clear. The perfect balance of comfort and adventure.

While safaris are possible year-round, the heavy rains from November onwards make wildlife harder to spot, some areas less accessible, and mosquito activity higher. So the dry season offers the most rewarding experience.

Safety is a top priority on every journey. Rai works only with licensed local operators and guides who know the bush intimately and have decades of experience. Camps are fully serviced and professionally set up, with staff always present.

Each guest tent is equipped with a private bathroom, so there is no need to leave your tent during the night. The tents are spacious, comfortable, and designed to provide both luxury and peace of mind. Vehicles are maintained to high standards, and itineraries are planned with safety and comfort in mind.

Rai himself travels with each group to ensure every detail is handled and that guests always feel looked after. While the wilderness is never without its risks, traveling with Rai means being in the care of people who know how to anticipate and manage them. So you can simply enjoy the adventure.

No special level of fitness is required. Rai’s safaris are designed to be comfortable and accessible for most travelers. Daily activities focus on game drives in private vehicles, with only short walks around campt or at scenic spots.

The mobile camps provide real beds, private bathrooms, and full service - so you don’t need to “rough it” or handle camp duties yourself. For those who enjoy more activity, optional experiences can be arranged, but the core safari is about ease, comfort, and immersion in the wilderness, not physical endurance.

In other words: You don’t need to be an athlete to join. You just need a sense of curiosity and adventure.
